Cognitive Ability Test
Cognitive ability tests (aptitude tests, general intelligence assessments) are one of the most powerful predictors of future work performance.
Cognitive ability tests measure verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning and the resulting score reflects the person's ability to acquire, retain, organise and apply information.
People who score well on cognitive ability tests are more likely to:
- Develop a greater knowledge of the job, more quickly
- Make effective decisions
- Successfully reason and solve problems and
- Respond appropriately to new or complex situations.
Hiring people with high cognitive ability leads to a significant increase in efficiency and a decrease in involuntary employee turnover.
Revelian’s Cognitive Ability Test consists of 51 questions, taken over 20 minutes (timed), which require applicants to process verbal, numeric and abstract information to answer the question correctly. The questions become more difficult as the test progresses and range in difficulty from those that 97% of people answer correctly to questions that only 2% answer correctly.
This broad range of question types and difficulty levels provides a comprehensive assessment of general cognitive ability. As candidates' scores are compared to relevant normative groups, this test accurately predicts job performance across all role types.
Behavioural Profile
A behavioural profile indicates how people are likely to approach problems, interact with others, and respond to the pace of the environment and its rules and procedures. Behavioural profiles provide employers with detailed information about an individual’s strengths, weaknesses, communication style and their motivators.
Understanding employees’ behavioural profiles can lead to:
- Improved communication
- Better team cohesion
- Improved performance and effectiveness.
The Revelian Behavioural Profile is a behavioural assessment that provides an indication of how a person is likely to behave and communicate in a work role. This information can be used to identify individuals whose behavioural style matches the requirements of the position and how well they will fit into an existing team.
The Revelian Behavioural Profile utilises Marston’s DISC model (1928) to examine the extent to which an individual’s behaviour typifies four styles:
- Dominance – approach to problems and challenges
- Influencing – approach to social situations
- Steadiness – approach to pace of the environment
- Compliance – approach to rules.
There are no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answers in this assessment. Responses are analysed to identify how strongly each of the four behavioural styles are represented in the individual. An individual’s unique behavioural profile needs to be considered in the context of the specific job requirements.
Skills Tests
Skills tests assess a candidate’s current level of knowledge, skill or ability in a specific area, for example mathematical skills or computer software competencies, to determine whether they can meet the technical requirements of a role.
Research indicates that a significant proportion of candidates lie, embellish or misrepresent their skills on a resume or in an interview situation. Objective, standardised skills testing allows you to ensure that a candidate has the core skills that are critical to the role. This adds more rigour to your recruitment process and helps you find your best candidates more quickly.
Developed and validated by industry and subject matter experts, and focusing on real-life scenarios likely to be faced by people on the job, each test provides a valid and effective measurement of the skills required to perform particular jobs.
Revelian provides over 800 skills tests across a number of categories, including:
- Software
- Office/Clerical
- Accounting
- Call Centre
- Finance
- Legal
- Healthcare
- Industrial
