What's in store for jobs in 2010?

One of the questions we were continually asked last year was whether 2010 will be a better year for jobs in the sport, fitness and aquatic sector. The answer may already have arrived given the job activity we’ve seen throughout January.

Like most Job Boards, Sportspeople’s job activity always dips over the Christmas/New Year period and we traditionally see a slow build into February. However, throughout January this year we have experienced an unusually quick return of job activity. In fact there was one week in January where Sportspeople recorded its 4th largest number of jobs in our eleven years of operation.

Mirroring the broader economic sentiment, there now appears to be a more positive attitude from employers in 2010. We started to see more job seeker activity late last year in particular a number who are now more willing to take their next career step. The activity at middle to senior management level in particular had been pretty flat throughout 2009 so it is likely we’ll see more jobs coming onto the market in 2010.

There was a 19.01% increase in traffic at the Sportspeople website last year, with absolute unique visitors now 215,062 (Source – Google Analytics) and showing no signs of slowing.

All of this is, of course, good news for employers and job seekers.

So our belated answer to the question is that 2010 is going to be a good year for jobs in the sport, fitness and aquatic sector. Whether you are a job seeker or employer, we look forward to assisting you this year.

Link your job advertisement to your Employer Profile through the Sportspeople Trade Market

Did you know advertisers at Sportspeople can upload a comprehensive “Employer Profile” that links to an active job? Did you know over 200 employers presently use this service as an additional way to market themselves? Did you know that this is a free service for most of our advertisers?

The Sportspeople Trade Market provides three list and search options for the sport, fitness and  aquatic community:
  • For Sale - an online classified tool, ideal when you have something to sell or are looking for something to buy. This is a free service. To list an item For Sale you must be registered.
  • Services - an online and sortable directory of services and service providers, ideal if you want to increase your brand exposure within this sector. This is a free service. To list a service or organisation you must be registered.
  • Directory - an online and sortable directory of places, venues and organisations. This is a free service. To list an item in Directory you must be registered.
When a job seeker is searching active roles and where the employer has an active Trade Market listing, an additional line becomes available in the advertisement prompting users to “Find Out More About This Employer”. This link takes the reader to the advertiser’s Sportspeople Trade Market listing.

When a user is searching active Sportspeople Trade Market listings and where the employer also has an active job, an additional line is available in the advertisement prompting uses to “See jobs available by this employer”.

If you are already registered as an advertiser with Sportspeople you can start to use Sportspeople Trade market. Job seekers can list and use the For Sale service free of charge.
