Golf Australia is the governing body for golf in Australia.

Our goal is to raise the level of interest and participation in the game from grassroots golfers through to the elite levels, spectators, volunteers and associated industry bodies.

Our key responsibilities include conducting national tournaments and championships including the Australian Opens, managing the Rules of Golf and the National Handicap system, as well as developing programs and opportunities to engage as many people as possible into the game - ‘All Golf Is Golf’.

As part of Golf Australia’s strategic plan to increase participation at all levels of Golf, we are now looking to appoint a ‘Head of Women & Girls Engagement’ to spearhead the growth and participation of women and girls and those from a diverse background into our great game.

About the role

The ‘Head of Women & Girls Engagement’ will be responsible for the successful delivery of Golf Australia’s strategy to elevate the growth and participation of women and girls participation and engagement in golf at all levels throughout Australia.

This is a senior leadership position that will work across the entirety of the Australian Golf ecosystem, challenging strategic thinking, whilst leading a small but passionate team.

Key duties include:

  • Leading the development of Australian Golf’s 10-year vision for Women and Girls engagement.
  • The development of Australian Golf’s first Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
  • Be a promoter for women and girls in golf.
  • Influence key stakeholders and members to become advocates of women and girls in golf at all levels throughout Australia.
  • Promote to and educate our clubs and facilities on best practice governance, participation and customer engagement strategies to attract and retain women and girls in our sport.
  • Work with our Public Affairs and Marketing team to ensure that our positioning is bold in seeking to attract new participants to our game.
  • Work with our Commercial team to drive women and girls fan engagement within Australia’s marquee golf tournaments and tours.

About you

We are on the lookout for someone who has experience in developing strategy, overseeing its execution and influencing stakeholders in the development of their own key initiatives. This role will suit a growth minded individual who has a passion for increasing opportunities for women and girl participation and engagement in sports and entertainment.

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications, skills, traits and experiences:

  • An innovative and strategic thinker.
  • Strong project management and business acumen.
  • Formal qualifications in relevant field, and/or experience in sports participation.
  • An understanding of current trends that act as drivers or barriers of women and girls, and those from a diverse background’s, participation and engagement in sport.
  • Great stakeholder management with the ability to influence.
  • An understanding of the sport and/ or entertainment landscape.
  • The willingness to deliver a clear message and represent Golf as a spokesperson as required.
  • Must have/or be able to obtain a working with children check prior to commencement.
