Description

Little Athletics NSW leads and supports the promotion, development and delivery of athletics programs for up to 35,000 participants between the ages of 3-17 years across NSW. The participants (members) take part in a range of age-modified running, jumping and throwing events at 180 centres across NSW.

The Event Coordinator is responsible for working with the Little Athletics community in NSW to provide support to the Sport and Events Manager in the delivery of high-quality competition events throughout Little Athletics in NSW. This role will be required to work with Athletics NSW (ANSW) / Little Athletics NSW (LANSW) Workforce Manager to provide high quality support to Little Athletics events across Zone, Region and State level events and to provide LANSW support in partnership with ANSW events. The Event Coordinator will also be responsible for administration of the LEAP program and LANSW team to the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC).

This role will require frequent travel throughout NSW and will require out of office hours of work.

Key Areas

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Sport and Events Manager in delivering an annual calendar of high quality State level Little Athletics Events.
  • Complete all allocated event delivery tasks for Competition Events on time and on budget. Tasks will include but are not limited to
    • Booking venues and liaising with venue management on all aspects of competition.
    • Liaise with centre hosts, local councils and other relevant stake holders.
    • Liaise with the Workforce Manager to ensure appropriate appointment of officials for all LANSW Events.
    • Arrange all certificates, medals and presentations.
    • Administration of entries and databases.
    • Prepare and display/ distribute results as required.
  • Attend and support the delivery of all LANSW Competition Events.
  • Support the conduct of all Zone and Region Championships.
  • Attend and support the delivery of ANSW Competition Events where required.
  • Attend all Competition and Championship Advisory Committee Meetings.

Pathways for Little Athletics

  • Support the Sport and Events Manager to coordinate the LEAP program, working with a team of staff, external coaches and volunteers.
  • Support the Sport and Event Manager to coordinate the NSW team arrangements for the Australian Little Athletics Championships including but not limited to:
    • Conduct of the pre-event camp
    • Administration of the Team travel arrangements, parent communications and itinerary.

Other

  • In addition to Competition events noted above, attend, support and contribute to the delivery of other LANSW and ANSW events as directed, including but not limited to:
    • LANSW Annual Conference
    • Zone Coordinators Workshop
  • Support other whole of organisation initiatives as directed.
  • Other duties as required by the Sport and Events Manager or CEO from time to time.

Person Specifics and Key Selection Criteria

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience working with event delivery either personally or as a volunteer.
  • Experience working in childrens sport.
  • Experience in a grassroots, participation based organisation.
  • Knowledge of Little Athletics and Little Athletics competitions.
  • Well-organised and disciplined approach to project/ event management with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience delivering programs and services across both metropolitan and regional/ remote areas.
  • Highly self-motivated, pro-active and able to operate with minimal day to day supervision, whilst still collaborating with stakeholders via various platforms.
  • The ability to problem solve and have a solution focus to issues as they arise.
  • Be able to establish strong relationships within a broad range of community groups.
  • Have the ability to effectively develop and manage initiatives and projects.
