Robert McMurtrie - Director
With a distinguished career spanning over 35 years, Robert McMurtrie has worked across the full spectrum of sport from community, state, national and international organisations. Positions have included Chief Executive Officer, Netball Australia (1985-88) and the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix (1992-94). Robert has been in charge of delivering five World Championship events including three Motorcycle Grands Prix, the 1992 International Six Days Enduro and the 1988 Coca-Cola World Youth Netball Championships.
In 1987 Robert was awarded the coveted Confederation of Australian Sport - Sport Administrator of the Year and has continued to be an active participant in the development of the sport management profession including his work on a number of External Advisory Panels for tertiary institutions throughout Australia.
Robert has a Diploma in Physical Education and Bachelor of Physical Education (Uni WA) and a Master of Education (Sydney Uni). Robert has also completed a number of specialist HR courses including Applied Personnel Consulting at Deakin University.
Robert founded Sportspeople in 1996 as Australia’s first sport recruitment specialist and continues to play a role in the business today.
Angelique Everett - General Manager
Through her previous role with a Sydney based boutique recruitment agency, Angelique arrived at Sportspeople in 2006 with a strong customer relationship background. As a graduate of Monash University (Bachelor of Psychology and Management/Marketing) Angelique has experience in all aspects of recruitment and customer services. Angelique also holds several Board positions at both the State and Community level.
Like all the Sportspeople staff, Angelique also happens to have an active interest in sport. Angelique can be found most mornings rowing on the local waterways and has been a surf boat athlete, volunteer surf lifesaver and rowing coach.
Angelique is responsible for general business operations, marketing and other special projects including the Sportspeople Workplace Survey. Angelique is the primary contact person for all recruitment and HR service enquiries.
Angus Bowen - Marketing & Operations Coordinator
Angus joined Sportspeople in 2015 with a background in high-level customer service roles including Reservation Sales and Administration for Contiki Holidays at The Travel Corporation, Retail Sales at Rebel Sport and as a Lifeguard at the “Happiest Place on Earth” Walt Disney World Florida Yacht & Beach Resort. Angus has completed a Bachelor of Tourism Management (University of Western Sydney) and a Graduate Certificate in Sports Management (University of Technology Sydney), and is currently studying his MBA at UTS.
Like all the Sportspeople staff, Angus also has an active interest in sport and is currently the Captain of the Hurlstone Park Soccer Club, a keen cricket player (both indoor and outdoor) and has recently taken up golf. In 2014 Angus travelled to Brazil fulfilling a life-long ambition to attend the FIFA World Cup.
Angus is responsible for social media and business administration as well as maintaining the Sportspeople Jobs Market and Sportspeople Learning. Angus is available to answer any advertising or website enquiries.
Anne Reid - Global Recruitment Consultant
Following a diverse career spanning the travel, luxury automotive, rail freight, sport and event management industries, Anne joined the Sportspeople Team in 2014. A people focus has been central to Anne’s work including staff management, workplace training, online information systems, marketing, sports administration and events (including the Australian Motorcycle Grands Prix 1992/93/94), risk and compliance, executive support, sales and customer service.
Anne draws on this vast experience in her current practise as both a Tutor/Workplace Trainer and Recruitment Consultant. When not working Anne can be found enjoying all things outdoors, including the beach, cycling and spending time with her family.
Anne is based in Newcastle, NSW and manages Sportspeople recruitment assignments across Australia and New Zealand.
Karen Good - Global Recruitment Consultant
Karen joined Sportspeople in 2015 with over 35 years’ experience in a variety of roles around the world. Originally from Ireland, Karen has worked in customer relationship management, learning and development, change management, project management, staff management and human resources in both private and public sector organisations. Karen spent 17 years in banking in Dublin and London before taking on HR consulting work in Europe, Asia and Africa and finally moving to New Zealand in 2000.
Importantly, Karen worked for Sport New Zealand (previously SPARC) for seven and a half years where she provided human resources advice and consultancy services to national and regional sport organisations and bodies. This included working with chief executives and boards to manage the recruitment of specialist and senior staff and board members.
In her free time, Karen enjoys cycling, pilates, swimming and travelling.
Karen is based in Wellington, New Zealand and manages Sportspeople recruitment assignments across New Zealand and Australia.
Leeanne Grantham - Global Recruitment Consultant
Leeanne has over two decades of sport and major event experience. She has held Senior Executive positions with Basketball, Football (Soccer), Australian Rules Football (SA), and in venue management. She was the Chief Executive of the 2002 World Masters Games in Melbourne (known as the biggest multi-sport event in the World), CEO - Australian Major Events (now known as Events SA), where she managed events such as the Tour Down Under, the Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive, Tasting Australia and many others, and successfully bid for significant major events for South Australia, such as the International Rugby 7’s, the Australian Masters Games, World Cycling and BMX events, International Soccer for men and women and many others. Leeanne has held numerous Board positions over the years and is a current Director of Cycling Australia, the Free Throw Foundation and Chair of the Riverland Tourism and Events Board.
Leeanne has enjoyed mentoring young people during their journey into the sport and event management industries and assisting in guiding them in their employment choices. Her network throughout Australia and other parts of the world is extensive.
Leeanne also supports her husband in his financial planning business and in her spare time enjoys catching up with friends, visiting her family and staying active.
Leeanne resides in Adelaide, SA and, having lived for several years in both Melbourne and Sydney, manages Sportspeople recruitment assignments across Australia and New Zealand.
Scott Oakhill - Global Recruitment Consultant
Scott joins the Sportspeople team with an extensive background in both the sport and recruitment industries. Beginning as a sports administrator at community level in the 1990's, Scott was a professional rugby coach in the USA, Ireland, and France for almost a decade, before returning to Australia in the mid 2000's to work across sports management and administration at the highest levels. He has also worked in the recruitment industry, primarily in the Construction and Property sectors.
During his time with renowned agency International Quarterback and the Queensland Rugby Union/Queensland Reds in particular, he has built a strong understanding and network within the professional sport industry, both in Australia and internationally. Currently a Director of GPS Rugby Club, Australia's largest Rugby Club, Scott brings an empathy to the needs of the sport industry at all levels along with a specialist skill set developed in sports governance.
A member of a number of community, sporting, and non-profit Boards, Scott is well known as a trusted advisor and partner to his established networks.
Scott resides in Brisbane, QLD and manages Sportspeople recruitment assignments across Australia and New Zealand.
Joanne Cohen - Accounts Coordinator
Joanne joined Sportspeople in 2014 with over 18 years experience in finance. Having managed the accounts for boutique recruitment agencies since 2008, Joanne has a strong understanding of the unique requirements of the business.
Joanne is the primary contact person for all accounts related enquiries.
