Part Time / Contract position

25 hours per week plus home games for 9 months of the year

  • Ensure Waratahs players are provided with necessary and appropriate physiotherapy management and manual therapy
  • Assist with injury management and rehabilitation of the injured playing group
  • Work together with other team physiotherapists to prepare the Waratahs for trainings and home games
  • Ensure the playing group are adhering to rehabilitation programs, injury prevention processes and team standards
  • Assist the high-performance unit (HPU) in facilitating the injury prevention systems employed by the Waratahs
  • Assist in creating an environment of self-responsibility with regard to acute injury management, rehabilitation, lifestyle and recovery strategies in keeping with current best practice
  • Maintain medical records and the administrative processes currently used at the Waratahs
  • Keep up to date and report to the medical department on current research and innovative practices that are relevant to sports medicine in Rugby Union
  • Assist in providing appropriate feedback to the medical department to ensure continued improvement throughout the season
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the HPU and communicate effectively and regularly with the Head Physiotherapist on injury rehabilitation progressions, injury surveillance data and the overall wellness of the playing group
  • Provide leadership to the playing group and Pathways Physiotherapists through effective interpersonal communication and the ability to address difficult problems and decisions appropriately
  • Demonstrate personal credibility, honesty, high integrity, flexibility and show an ability to handle pressure and stress appropriately

Essential Requirements

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • Sports Medicine/Allied Health Degree
  • Drivers Licence
  • ABN and current Public Liability & Indemnity Insurance
  • Expert manual therapy skills
  • Over 5 years of Physiotherapy experience, preferably over 10 years
  • Previous experience working with professional sports people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • An individual of solid character with strong interpersonal skills and relationship management
  • Up to date AHPRA registration and personal indemnity insurance
