NQ is seeking applications for a Non-Executive Appointed Board Director to commence in June 2024.

Netball Queensland (NQ) is the peak state sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of netball throughout Queensland.  NQ is a membership-based organisation with a permanent workforce of 75 staff and 10 contracted professional athletes.

About You

We are seeking a non-executive appointed director to join our skills-based Board. Applications are encouraged from accomplished, dynamic professionals who meet the following selection criteria:

Essential Selection Criteria:

• Passion for making a positive impact in the community through sport
• Strategic thinker
• Compelling communicator and storyteller

Desirable Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrated knowledge, experience and networks in sport tourism and event delivery including venues, customer experience, and large sports events
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in streaming content and broadcast rights and the commercialisation of sport as an entertainment product
• Knowledge and expertise in the areas of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, diversity and inclusion
• Demonstrated experience in sports administration

Commitment

In this role, you will participate in bi-monthly Board meetings and committee meetings as required, and share joint Board member responsibility for setting and monitoring the overall governance, management and strategic direction of the organisation. Meetings are held at Netball Queensland Headquarters based at Nissan Arena preferably in-person but IT infrastructure will allow for some virtual attendance throughout the year.

Establishing a strong working relationship with the CEO is expected and desired; a team-based approach to curating strategic board agendas and engaging in board performance and governance reviews.  Availability to meet with sponsors and partners, as well as attend corporate and major netball events as well as Firebirds home games can be anticipated.

Cultivating relationships with key stakeholders in the broader Australian Netball system will also be required.

This is a voluntary position and appointment to the Board will be based on a selection and interview process undertaken by the Nominations Committee with final endorsement by the Board.
