Team Purpose             

AusCycling’s Performance Support Team work collaboratively to provide world-leading evidence-based support to athletes and coaches and optimise performance in the daily training environment and competition.

Position Purpose       

A role working closely with AusCycling (AC) coaches and alongside the broader Performance Support and Operations Teams, to initiate and deliver high level mechanical support to athletes.

As the Bicycle Mechanic, you will be responsible for servicing of equipment for AC’s Performance Olympic and Paralympic programs consisting of Acceleration & Action (Track Sprint, BMX Race, BMX Freestyle), and Endurance (Track Endurance, Road, MTB XCO, Para-cycling), and AC National Teams. 

Responsibilities         

The following responsibilities are indicative requirements of the role and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all requirements. 

In close consultation with the Service Course Manager, Bicycle Mechanic/s, National Coaches and Technical Directors:

  • Assemble, service, and repair all equipment for competition and training purposes
  • Optimise equipment presented for use by AC Performance programs to ensure athlete performance and safety
  • Maintain athlete, component, and equipment records
  • Travel with and support  AusCycling Programs and or National Teams domestically and internationally
  • Provide support with bike fitting and aero projects as required
  • Maintain to a high standard the cleanliness and organisation of the workshop, pit and equipment storage areas
  • Advise the Service Course Manager on planning, assets and equipment issues or movements
  • Report on relevant issues to Service Course Manager

Essential Requirements

  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
  • At least 3 years in a bicycle workshop and/ or competition environment
  • Current Passport
