About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Head of Tennis Participation to lead a passionate team dedicated to growing our game across clubs, schools, and communities. With over 200 affiliated clubs, 230+ accredited coaches, 1,200 schools, and thousands of volunteers, this senior leadership role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on the health and vibrancy of tennis across metro and regional WA. Working at the forefront of state strategy and in alignment with the broader national objectives, you will inspire and empower your team and key stakeholders to deliver innovative participation initiatives, ensuring more people play, love, and stay connected with tennis.

In this role you will:

  • Provide inspiring and strategic leadership to the Tennis Development Team fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration and excellence.
  • Develop and translate state and national tennis strategies into an operational plan that drives local participation growth, inclusivity, and innovation.
  • Build robust stakeholder relationships with clubs, coaches, volunteers, and schools to ensure a shared commitment to growing and sustaining the game.
  • Oversee programs and initiatives aimed at retaining existing players while creating new entry points and formats for people of all ages and abilities.
  • Optimise club health and digital capability to enhance the sustainability and reach of tennis across Western Australia.

About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Proven experience leading large teams, managing change, and building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders including clubs, coaches, and government bodies.
  • Deep understanding of tennis operations, programming, coaching, and venue management, with knowledge of both state and national sports systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and deliver operational plans, manage budgets, secure funding through grants, and ensure long-term financial sustainability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, report writing, and interpersonal skills across varied audiences and formats.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a flexible and calm approach to working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
  • Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis West
