AusCycling is the nation’s peak riding and cycling body, representing more than 5 million Australians who ride bikes. Formed in 2020 from 19 state, territory, and national bodies, AusCycling is responsible for programs, projects and initiatives that encompass BMX, Cyclo-cross, Esport, Track, Mountain Bike, Road, Para and recreational.

We help school kids learn to ride, we stage more than 500 events each year, we nurture clubs and create pathways, and we are responsible for the training, welfare, and performance of Australia’s Olympic, Commonwealth Games and World Tour athletes.

Team Purpose

AusCycling’s Clubs and Community Pillar is responsible for building, supporting, and enhancing the capabilities of both the Club network and associated community organisations. 

There is a strategic focus on growing the number of people riding and cycling with Clubs and through programs like AusBike.

The team is responsible for developing the network through delivering coach and official education programs and initiatives, and State and Territory based events, competitions and pathways.

Position Purpose

AusCycling supports a diverse and dynamic network of clubs that span multiple cycling disciplines and serve a wide range of community segments. The role plays a critical leadership role in strengthening this network by driving strategic engagement, capability building, and sustainable growth across all club types.

The role is responsible for implementing the strategy for participation nationally, including schools, AusBike, Government funded programs and other participation products and programs.

This role leads the national club engagement program, ensuring clubs are supported through tailored initiatives that enhance their operations, governance, and community impact. A key focus is monitoring the health and wellbeing of the club network, identifying opportunities and challenges, and delivering solutions that foster development of the club network.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a club engagement program.
  • Monitor the health and well being of the AusCycling club network.
  • Deliver tailored programs and support initiatives that strengthen the AusCycling club network.
  • Recognise and celebrate outstanding club achievement
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate participation programs that drive recruitment, retention, and re-engagement across all ages, stages, and formats of cycling and bike riding.
  • Lead the development, coordination and continual improvement of participation programs that meet or exceed the needs of customers.
  • Capture additional funding streams to increase the opportunity to strengthen the narrative around AusBike safety, active transport, education and health for children.
  • Strengthen the AusBike Delivery Network through clubs, schools and other delivery partnerships.
  • Coordinate legacy projects related to hosted major events.
  • Work closely with the Participation team to promote and support the delivery network including the provision of ongoing strategic advice, expertise and direction to build the capability of staff.
  • Work closely with AusCycling workforce team to scale accreditation programs to meet the variety of needs of the community.
  • Effective use of technology to support timely reporting and analysis.
  • Capture participation data for reporting purposes, ensuring we are able to measure and report on data from a variety of systems and mechanisms, identifying opportunities, challenges and recommendations for solutions.
  • Collaborate with other AusCycling Pillars, in particular Major Events, Performance, Marketing, Media and Communication.
  • Contribute to revenue generating opportunities for AusCycling
  • Positively represent and be an ambassador for AusCycling
  • Safeguard the integrity of AusCycling through implementation of the highest standards with regard to inclusion, the safety and wellbeing of children, and anti-doping
  • Child-related work is conducted in this role with interactions varying from online, physical or face-to-face.
