Head Swim Coach, Mentone Aquatic
Mentone Aquatic is seeking an experienced and driven Head Swim Coach to lead and grow our competitive squad program.
This is a key leadership role within our program and a great opportunity for the right coach to make a genuine impact across swimmer development, team culture, coach mentoring and program growth.
You will work across Mentone Aquatic, Bayside Swimming Club and Mentone Grammar School swimming, helping build strong pathways from learn to swim through to competitive swimming.
About the role
The Head Swim Coach will lead the planning, delivery and development of our squad program. This role suits someone who is passionate about swimmer development, enjoys building strong relationships with athletes and families, and can create a positive, high standard environment on pool deck.
The role includes coaching on deck, program planning, meet attendance, communication with families, mentoring junior coaches, and working closely with leadership to continue building a strong and connected program.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the competitive squad program across all levels
- Plan and deliver high quality training sessions
- Build clear progression pathways for swimmers from junior squads through to senior levels
- Create a positive, disciplined and supportive team culture
- Mentor and support assistant coaches and emerging coaches
- Communicate clearly and professionally with swimmers, families and staff
- Attend and support swimmers at targeted meets and competitions
- Work closely with program leadership on squad growth, structure and standards
- Help strengthen connections across Mentone Aquatic, Bayside Swimming Club and Mentone Grammar School swimming

About you
You are an experienced swim coach who can lead from the front, build relationships, and create an environment where swimmers enjoy the process and keep improving.
You will ideally bring:
- 5+ years of competitive swimming coaching experience
- A proven ability to develop swimmers across a range of levels
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A positive, professional and team-first approach
- The ability to build culture, accountability and connection within a squad environment
- Experience mentoring or managing other coaches
- Confidence working with swimmers, families and school stakeholders
Required qualifications
- Australian Swim Coach License, ASCTA Silver Licence or Gold Licence
- Current CPR and First Aid
- Current Working with Children Check
- Any other relevant safeguarding or child safety requirements
Role details
- Full-time opportunity
- Early morning, afternoon and some weekend work required
- Attendance at key meets and events required
- Salary to be discussed based on experience and scope of role
- Start date from mid April
