Suitably experienced and qualified applicants are invited to apply for this 2-year fixed term full-time Head of Netball role.

The opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Sports Department to lead and further develop a vibrant and successful Netball program. The successful candidate will lead and manage all aspects of the Radford College Netball Program with vision, professionalism and energy, while reporting to the Director of Sport.

About the role

The Head of Netball is responsible for the development and implementation of an engaging, challenging and inclusive program across all age groups and abilities.

This also includes, but is not limited to:

  • Designing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for inclusive, age-appropriate netball programs, creating annual calendars and ensuring student safety
  • Overseeing program logistics, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, equipment management, and compliance with policies to ensure smooth and effective administration
  • Recruiting, managing, and developing a team of coaches, team managers and umpires, fostering a positive coaching culture, and ensuring compliance with coaching standards and best practices.
  • Building relationships with Netball ACT, schools, community organisations, and parents
  • Managing facility use, maintenance and collaborate with the Venue Manager for revenue generation and operational support.
  • Actively supporting College activities, engaging with the school community, and collaborating with other Radford sports and college staff and activities to foster teamwork and contribute to a shared vision.

About you

The ideal candidate will possess a Netball Australia coaching accreditation (advanced qualifications highly desirable) and have a strong understanding of netball pathways and player development.  Demonstrated experience in netball and/or sport program management, as well as proven success in managing team priorities and outcomes, will be essential. Be familiar with and capable in leading and managing a high-demand, year-round sports program within a school environment.

This role requires a self-motivated individual with outstanding organisational, planning, and communication skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to handle multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents, supporting Radford College’s ethos and values and upholding the standards of truth, compassion, and wisdom.

Candidates must have:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Netball
  • A proven ability to manage confidential matters with staff, students, and parents/caregivers.
  • Demonstrated success in planning, implementing, and managing competing priorities.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and work effectively across diverse stakeholders.
  • Be a positive and collaborative team leader who can also work independently when required.
  • Possess exceptional communication (written and verbal), time management, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and strong IT capabilities.
  • Commit to the safeguarding and promotion of student wellbeing.
  • Commitment to student wellbeing, Radford’s strategic priorities, and the College values of Truth, Compassion, and Wisdom.

Qualifications

  • Netball Australia Coaching Accreditation (Advanced) is desirable
  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR certificates
  • Light rigid (Class LR) bus license or a willingness to attain one
  • Working with Vulnerable People Clearance
  • Previous netball coaching and/or sport program management experience within a school environment viewed particularly favourably
