ROLE SNAPSHOT
Role purpose: Coach advanced learn to swim, junior and development squad groups, along with school swimming sessions, so every swimmer improves their skills, fitness and enjoyment of the sport.
Availability: Casual or part time. Morning and afternoon shifts available, with hours built around your schedule and the squad timetable.
Reports to: Korowa Aquatics Centre Manager.
Works with: Squad coaches, swim instructors, reception staff, swimmers and families. Some squad swimmers are also Bayside Swimming Club members.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Deliver engaging, well planned sessions across advanced learn to swim, junior and development squads.
- Coach stroke technique, starts, turns and race skills at a level suited to each group.
- Support the school swimming program, including class sessions and preparation for school carnivals.
- Set the tone on pool deck: energetic, positive, organised and on time.
- Track attendance, times and progress so swimmers and families can see improvement.
- Support swimmers preparing for club, regional and state level competition, including Bayside Swimming Club members.
- Communicate clearly with parents about progress, squad expectations and pathway options.
- Work with the coaching team to keep session plans, squad levels and progressions consistent.
- Carry out routine safety and pool checks and follow emergency, incident and child safety procedures.

ABOUT YOU
- You are passionate about swimming and make training fun without dropping the standard.
- You have around three years of teaching or coaching experience, ideally including squad groups.
- You are responsible, punctual and comfortable leading from the pool deck.
- You work well in a team, share ideas and back your colleagues in.
- You enjoy working with children and teenagers and can adjust your approach across ages and abilities.
- You want to keep learning and grow with a busy, thriving facility.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current CPR and First Aid certificates.
- A swim teaching or coaching accreditation: AUSTSWIM, Swim Australia Teacher, Swim Australia Coach or equivalent.
- Around three years of teaching or coaching experience.
- Availability for regular morning and/or afternoon shifts.
DESIRABLE, BUT NOT ESSENTIAL
- Experience coaching squad swimmers competing at club, regional or state level.
- Experience delivering school swimming programs.
- A competitive swimming background of your own.
- Pool Lifeguard qualification or Bronze Medallion.
- Experience with squad software, session planning tools or a swim school booking system.

ROLE BOUNDARIES
The Junior Squad Coach is responsible for delivering rostered squad, school swimming and advanced learn to swim sessions to a high standard. Program direction, squad structure, staffing, family escalations and facility matters are referred to the Korowa Aquatics Centre Manager. This keeps the role clear, supported and achievable within casual or part time hours.
