ABOUT WATER POLO QUEENSLAND

Water Polo Queensland (WPQ) is the state peak body responsible for leading, supporting and delivering water polo throughout Queensland.

The Brisbane Metropolitan Junior Competition (BMJC) is a significant part of WPQ’s annual competition calendar. The 2025/26 season involved 272 teams, more than 2,300 athletes and almost 2,000 games across seven Brisbane venues.

THE OPPORTUNITY

WPQ is inviting applications for casual Pool Coordinator positions for the 2026/27 BMJC season.

Pool Coordinators are WPQ’s representatives at their assigned competition venues. They play an integral role in ensuring each competition day is well organised, games remain on schedule, officials and teams are supported, results are recorded correctly, and game-day issues are managed calmly and practically.

These are paid casual Saturday positions at various venues across Brisbane. Regular availability is preferred; however, applicants do not need to be available for a full day or every Saturday. Rostering will take individual availability into account while ensuring competition requirements are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role includes:

  • Overseeing venue set-up and pack-down.
  • Acting as WPQ’s primary point of contact at the venue.
  • Supporting referees, table officials, teams and volunteers.
  • Responding to competition enquiries and managing game-day issues.
  • Managing scorecards, attendance and results through RevSport.
  • Communicating operational matters to the WPQ Competitions Team.
  • Helping provide a safe, welcoming and well-organised competition environment.

ABOUT YOU

You do not need to be an experienced referee or know every competition rule before commencing. WPQ will provide training and ongoing support.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Reliable, punctual and well organised.
  • Confident communicating with athletes, parents, coaches and officials.
  • Calm under pressure and capable of making practical decisions.
  • Comfortable taking responsibility for the operation of a competition venue.
  • Able to maintain accurate administrative records and learn online competition systems.
  • Interested in community sport and providing a positive experience for junior athletes.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have current Australian working rights.
  • Hold a current driver licence.
  • Hold a current Queensland Paid Blue Card, or be able to obtain one before commencing.
  • Hold current First Aid and CPR certification, or be willing to obtain these before commencing.
  • Be available for Saturday work during the BMJC season.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

The following would be advantageous but is not essential:

  • Experience in water polo or another community sport.
  • Table officiating or sports administration experience.
  • Competition, event or venue operations experience.
  • Familiarity with RevSport or another online competition management system.
