Detailed Description

High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) was established in 2011 to lead and deliver on key aspects of the High Performance (HP) Strategy in New Zealand. The HPSNZ vision is 'Inspiring the nation through more New Zealanders winning on the world stage at Olympic / Paralympic Games and World Championships'.

Reporting to the HP Athlete Development Manager, the primary purpose of the HP Athlete Development Consultant is to support the HP Athlete Development strategy and implementation plan across the NZ high performance sport system and support National Sport Organisations (NSOs) to ensure that world best HP athlete development practices and environments are in place thereby providing high performance athletes to meet or exceed NZ’s Olympic and World Championship medal targets in future Games. 

You will play a key role in the development and implementation of programs focussing on athlete development (5-8 years from podium). You will have the opportunity to work with targeted New Zealand NSOs, coaches and athlete development personnel driving and shaping athlete identification and development programmes, innovation and knowledge sharing.

This role would ideally suit a HP athlete development leader, high performance coach, support services provider (e.g. scientist, medicine etc) or High Performance Manager with experience in successfully leading and implementing programmes for emerging international high performance athletes. Candidates will need to be skilled in developing strong relationships and have the ability to relate to people at all levels, in particular senior management, NSO high performance directors and athlete development personnel and other HP staff.
