As we enter an exciting new chapter focused on growth, performance and sustainability, we are seeking a Pathway Manager - Juniors to lead the Junior programme and develop a clear pathway for players from U6 to U16, supporting their enjoyment, development and progression through rugby.
The Opportunity
The Pathway Manager - Juniors will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Junior boys’ and girls’ programme, with a strong focus on creating engaging rugby experiences, player attraction and retention.
Overseeing all Junior teams across XVs and 7s, the role maintains a strong community presence within the club, local schools and the wider Brisbane Junior Rugby landscape.
Reporting to the Director of Rugby and working closely with the Pathways Manager – Colts and the General Manager, this role plays a key part in delivering a successful junior programme built on enjoyment, alignment, player development and pathway progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and facilitate all Junior teams from U6–U16
- Increase grassroots participation in rugby across the club’s catchment, with conversion into Sunnybank Rugby membership
- Create and nurture strong school links across the catchment and wider South East Queensland as required
- Create a positive and enjoyable rugby experience for all juniors and their families, supporting retention and player development
- Support coaches to deliver a consistent, professional and positive coaching environment at all levels
- Provide direct coaching support across teams where required to maintain programme standards
- Deliver an annual calendar of junior engagement activities, including workshops, clinics, camps and tours
- Work closely with the Pathways Manager - Colts to support the player pipeline from U13–U16
- Act as a public ambassador for the club, strengthening community ties and external partnerships across schools and the wider rugby community
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
- World Rugby Level 2 Coach (or higher)
- Demonstrated experience working within junior rugby environments
- Proven ability to attract, engage and retain junior players
- Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to living locally and integrating into the club and broader community
Desirable:
- Experience within a Queensland Premier Rugby Club or equivalent environment
- Experience working within primary or middle schools or sports development settings
