Westgate Basketball is a fast growing basketball associations in Victoria, with over 4000 participants across programs ranging from Aussie Hoops and Junior Domestic Competition through to the VJBL and Big V. As we continue to scale, we're creating a brand-new role dedicated to the people who make it all happen: our coaches.
We're looking for a Coach Education and Pathways Manager to design and deliver the frameworks that develop Westgate coaches at every level, from first-time volunteers in domestic competition through to our elite VJBL high-performance program. This is Westgate's first dedicated coach development role, and you'll have real scope to shape it.
What you'll do
Design and maintain Westgate's coach curriculum, embedding the "Westgate Way" style of play across all levels
Plan and deliver coach workshops, clinics and induction sessions for domestic and VJBL coaches
Support coaches through NCAS and Basketball Victoria accreditation pathways, tracking compliance and renewals
Mentor and upskill volunteer coaches, connecting coach education from domestic competition into the rep program
Build and maintain athlete and coach pathways linking junior domestic through to elite VJBL and representative levels
Act as Westgate's primary liaison with Basketball Victoria and Basketball Australia on coach education and pathways
Build relationships with schools, associations and community programs to strengthen entry points into Westgate
Maintain Child Safe Standards and coaching compliance across the Association
What you'll bring
Demonstrated experience in coach education, coach development or athlete pathway management, ideally in basketball or another team sport
A sound understanding of the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) and state/national sporting body accreditation requirements
Strong facilitation and mentoring skills, comfortable working with everyone from volunteer coaches to high-performance staff
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills A current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one) and willingness to complete Basketball Victoria's Member Protection Declaration
Nice to have
A formal qualification in sports coaching, sports management or education
Existing relationships with Basketball Victoria and/or Basketball Australia
Experience coaching or administering within the VJBL or a comparable representative competition

Reports to the Operations Manager - Rep Program, with a dotted line to the Head of Coach and Player Development
Works closely with the General Manager, High Performance Directors, Rep coaches and Domestic clubs
Requires availability for some evenings and weekends during peak competition periods, and willingness to attend games, trainings and events
